Proposed Code Amendments
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Reform LUCA
Attached Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have been allowed in Bellevue since the early 1990s, but code requirements can sometimes make building ADUs difficult. This Land Use Code Amendment (LUCA) is intended to remove these barriers from the code, encourage the construction of attached ADUs in Bellevue, and to create a pathway for separate ownership of ADUs. Learn more on the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Reform LUCA page.
Increased Affordable Housing Capacity on Faith-Owned Properties LUCA
This Land Use Code Amendment (LUCA) will establish criteria and procedures for certain properties owned by religious organizations and located in single family land use districts to be rezoned to permit permanently affordable multifamily housing. Learn more on the Increased Affordable Housing Capacity on Faith-Owned Properties LUCA page.
Tree Canopy Code Amendments
This Land Use Code Amendment (LUCA) and Bellevue City Code Amendment (BCCA) will update tree preservation, retention, replacement and protection provisions to better support citywide tree canopy goals. Learn more on the Tree Canopy Code Amendments page.
Micro-Apartments Land Use Code Amendment
The City Council has directed the Planning Commission to process a Land Use Code Amendment (LUCA) to enable and encourage micro-apartment development. Learn more on the Micro-Apartments LUCA page.
