    Residential Parking Management

Residential Parking Zone (RPZ) changes begin on December 7
You cannote park or re-park a vehicle on the same block within a 24 hour period.
Starting December 7, 2022, vehicles parked in RPZs — including those with a valid RPZ permit — will no longer be permitted to park or re-park in RPZs on either side of a public street within the same block for a period exceeding 24 consecutive hours. If you wish to park in the neighborhood on a public street for more than 24 hours, you will need to park on another street or block. This change brings time limits in RPZs in line with limits in the rest of the city. There are no other changes to how your RPZ permits can be used. This change is a result of an ordinance approved by City Council on November 7, 2022 that changed Bellevue City Code Section 11.23.020.

    Residential Parking Management

Residential parking management addresses neighborhood concerns with non-resident vehicles parked in neighborhoods adjacent to businesses, schools and other public facilities (A Guide to Bellevue Parking Laws). This program has two components - general parking restrictions and residential parking zones.

Residential Parking Zone Sign in Neighborhood

A neighborhood may be eligible for zoned or general parking restrictions if it regularly experiences a significant amount of spillover parking from adjacent businesses or is near major generators of parked cars (high schools, shopping malls, etc.). Both types of restrictions require majority support from neighborhood residents, as well as City Council approval.

    General Parking Restrictions

With general parking restrictions, no permits are issued. All vehicles, including residents and their guests, are not allowed to park on the street during the time indicated. If residents in a neighborhood do not need on-street parking during the day, general parking restrictions are the best option because they are easier to enforce. Bellevue parking regulations are listed on the police traffic services page.

    Residential Parking Zones

A residential parking zone is an area established by a city ordinance to restrict non-residential parking on neighborhood streets. Residents and their guests are exempt from the restrictions if they park legally and display an RPZ permit (apply for RPZ permit).
