    The votes are in!

    Thank you to Woodridge residents for your participation in the Neighborhood Enhancement Program.

    Four new capital improvement projects will be funded from the $161,000 Woodridge allotted budget, thanks to the 346 ballots that were returned:

     

    Woodridge Trail Enhancements

    Woodridge/ McTavish Trail

    This project will include installation of trail drainage to help with trail water issues in the winter. Trail surfacing for the entire system. The addition of a bike rack and gravel pad at the SE 13th trailhead. The installation of Mutt Mitt dog waste stations and a trash receptacle at each trailhead and the installation of trail bridge deck grip plates to all bridges in system to alleviate the potential for slippery surfaces during the winter rainy season. Estimated project completion: Fall 2023.

    Woodridge SE 8th Gateway Entrance Landscaping

    121st Ave SE from SE 8th St to SE 10th St

    This project will provide new landscaping along 121st Ave SE between SE 8th St and SE 10th SE, with emphasis around the Woodridge Entrance sign. The plantings will replace aging, dead and dying plants, fill in missing locations, and replant in areas impacted by construction. The existing irrigation system will have minor updates to include water conserving technologies. Estimated project completion: Fall 2023.

    Richards Creek Open Space Invasive Vegetation Removal & Native Planting

    Richards Creek Open Space, 1640 Richards Rd

    This project will involve the removal of non-native invasive vegetation from natural wetland areas within Richards Creek Open Space. The scope of work will involve the removal of non-native invasive vegetation from the Richards Creek riparian buffers. All the areas impacted by the removal of invasive vegetation will be replanted with native trees and shrubs that are suitable for site conditions. This project will result in a more diverse and healthier wetland ecosystem that will enhance wildlife habitat and improve ecosystem functions. Estimated project completion: Fall 2024.

    Residential Street Lights at three selected locations

    SE 16th Pl between 121st Ave SE and 123rd Ave SE, 121st Ave SE between SE 15th St and SE 16th Pl and 127th Ave SE between SE 20th Pl and SE 23rd St

    This project will install up to three (3) new PSE owned and maintained LED streetlights within the street limits detailed in the locations above. The new poles will reside in City of Bellevue right-of-way and light public streets. City of Bellevue lighting engineer will determine exact street light placement based on available right-of-way, available power, and relation to underground utilities. New streetlights require adjacent homeowner approval prior to installation. Project costs will include new poles, new LED streetlights, all necessary trenching and wiring, and property restoration. All work will be conducted by Puget Sound Energy. Estimated project completion: Spring 2023.

    A Woodridge NEP Newsletter was mailed to each household in your area with complete voting results.

    How did you like the NEP process?

    The Woodridge NEP kicked off in April 2021 with 88 resident-identified project ideas submitted. Those projects were then reviewed for accessibility, feasibility, cost, timeliness, and maintainability to determine which were eligible to become ballot projects. 9 projects were included on the ballot and voted on by area residents. The top four projects receiving votes (listed above) will be installed over the next 3-5 years.

    NEP is a commitment from Bellevue’s City Council to provide residents with the opportunity to enhance their individual neighborhood areas through city-funded, small capital improvement projects. In 2015, the Council approved $5 million for the program over a seven-year period to serve two NEP programs a year. The budget is distributed among each of the NEP neighborhood areas, according to the number of households in each area.
