Cross Country Workouts
Running – Fall Cross Country
Kids running cross country is one of the most basic forms of kids’ sports. Come join Bellevue Youth Sports’ outdoor running program by registering here or use the workouts below while exploring trails within Bellevue’s Park system. Workouts are age and experience appropriate and provide both short and long-distance workouts to improve fitness while having fun. Please make sure your runner has a towel for ground exercises and a water bottle each day. Cross country running for children develops strong mental skills and builds an improved sense of discipline towards running, other sports, and life in general.
Note: Running distances vary from a half-mile to one mile. Below is a five-day workout plan to get your kids out exercising during the week. Each workout is designed to take 45 – 60 minutes per day. Zackery Lystedt Law
This law was passed in Washington state in 2009. It prohibits youth athletes suspected of sustaining a concussion from returning to play without a licensed healthcare provider's approval. The law will directly affect youth sports, head injury policies and future City of Bellevue youth participants.
To help parents and children stay informed, Bellevue will help distribute information about this new law. Before any child is allowed to participate in a City of Bellevue Youth Sports program, the documents listed below must be read, signed and turned in prior to participation. These documents are also included in the informational packets for parents and coaches.
Inclement Weather Plan
Call 425-452-4627 before travelling to a Youth Sports program to ensure the facility is open.
In the event of inclement weather, the Parks & Community Services Department will make every effort to communicate the status of facilities and programs, special events and rentals. Administration will decide whether to cancel a program or close a facility based upon the safety of participants and employees and the ability to appropriately staff programs and facilities.
As a general rule, if the Bellevue School District is closed due to a weather event, Parks & Community Services Department classes and programs will be cancelled for the entire day. If the Bellevue School District is on a delayed schedule, call the facility for an updated status report. Select facilities may be open for drop-in activities at a modified level. If you are unable to reach the facility, call the Parks & Community Services Department's general information number at 425-452-6885. Inclement weather can affect park use and trail conditions. Please use caution when visiting park sites during poor weather, as trails and other park facilities may become wet and slippery. Park trails may be closed.
