• Downtown Park Northeast Gateway

The Northeast Gateway features an entry plaza and water feature, offering an inviting connection between the park and downtown. Completed in May 2021, after a year of construction, the gateway is located at one of the busiest intersections in Bellevue — Northeast Fourth Street and Bellevue Way. A public art feature is slated for installation in late 2021.

Planning for the northeast corner was based on the 1997 park master plan. The plaza links to the canal and promenade to the west and a formal garden to the south. The water feature creates a strong visual identity from the busy intersection. With ample seating, the gateway facilitates treasured park activities, relaxing and people-watching.

While the Northeast Gateway is an important connection for the park to downtown, it also functions as a focal point for the Grand Connection, a pedestrian-oriented corridor to traverse downtown, from Meydenbauer Bay Park to the Wilburton neighborhood.
